It’s Not a Sale, It’s a Shift

The holidays are upon us, and the constant cries of SALE SALE SALE!!! Limited Time Offer!

But somehow the groceries and rent are never on sale, and gas is still almost $5/gallon where I live (here’s hoping that will quickly become dated).

Everyone is feeling the squeeze in pretty much every part of life, and we’re coming into the season of spending - gifts, meals, holiday office parties, travel etc etc.

It’s stressful, and tiring. With all that’s going on in the world, we need self-care and healing work more than ever, but many of us simply cannot afford it.

So, I’m not running a holiday sale.

I’m shifting my pricing structure for all energy work sessions.

I’ve been considering this change for a while, and it’s a tough call, because the value of my services is not less, and my expenses are certainly not going down. But I am committed to making this work accessible to more folks.

So, here’s more information to help you decide which tier fits your situation:

Green Tier Pricing - The highest cost reflects the true cost of the service. This is the rate that I charge in the absence of the tiered option. If you have access to financial security, or have personal savings, if you are able to pay for "wants" and spend little time worried about securing necessities in your life, this price is for you. {90 minutes = $162, 60 minutes = $108}

Purple Tier Pricing - The middle cost acknowledges that paying the full price would prevent you from being able to access this work, but you may not fit in the the higher or lower pricing categories. If you are working to get out of debt or build savings or move away from paycheck to paycheck living but have access to steady income and are not spending most of your time thinking about meeting basic needs such as food, shelter, medical care, child care, etc., you belong here. {90 minutes = $111, 60 minutes = $77}

Blue Tier Pricing - The lower cost acknowledges that your economic situation may prevent you from accessing this work if a discounted price structure was not offered. If you struggle to maintain access to needs such as health care, housing, food, child care, and are living paycheck to paycheck or are in significant debt, you probably belong here. {90 minutes = $90, 60 minutes = $60}

I recognize that even with the lower prices, my services will still be out of reach for a lot of folks. I am always open to trades for various goods and services, if you’d like to consider this option, please contact me.

Of course, this new system depends on you to decide what level of investment you are able to make to receive this work. I fully trust that the people who are feeling called to work with me will make that choice with integrity. I also recognize that financial situations are always changing, so if you are selecting a different tier than last time we worked together, that’s great, I’m glad you’re coming back! Ready to book? May you be resourced enough this season to do all the things that fill your cup.

Why I Love Rug Cleaning Videos (aka Healing is Messy)

I love rug cleaning videos.

You know the ones -  overhead camera, white tile floor, some person in colorful boots and a filthy dirty rug.

Over a time-lapse period of 15ish minutes, the rug goes from gross to great.

It’s icky in the beginning. There is SO MUCH DIRT. And the more they wash the more dirt comes pouring out of it. And just when you’re thinking ‘that’s looking better,’ they flip the rug over and there’s the muddy footprint waiting to get rinsed off the tile. Blergh!

And most of the time when I watch these videos, I don’t think too much about it. It’s just a satisfying little distraction, something to sort of meditate on in the midst of scrolling.

But the other night while watching an especially satisfying one (new techniques! I saw the person’s face!) I started thinking to myself, ‘why do I even like these?’

There’s probably a scientific answer to that (ASMR?), but what really struck me about it that night was how much it’s like the work of healing.

In the beginning it’s so messy! It can seem like an overwhelming amount of work. Will this rug ever be clean again? Will I ever be well / happy / whole again?

It’s so repetitive and cyclical. The same tools and techniques are applied again and again, each time revealing more of the beauty beneath what’s been trodden in to the fiber, something seemingly beyond saving begins to show it’s still vibrant. It just takes work to strip away the dirt - the trauma, and conditioning and expectations the world has trodden in to the fiber of my being.

Power wash, shampoo machine, squeegee, get down on your knees and scrub by hand. Dump a bucket of water on it. Watering can of shampoo. Broom style scrubber. Rinse. Repeat repeat repeat.

Okay I’m glad I don’t need quite that much shampoo. Or power washing, come to think of it.

But I do need rest, recognition, therapy, body work, energy work, meditation, hydration, coaching, processing, learning, integration. Rest, rest, rest.

And repeat what helps move that “dirt” again and again so I get to the next layer.

When I compare my healing journey to a rug cleaning, I think I’m in the part of the video where it looks pretty good, and I appreciate how far I’ve come. And now it’s time to flip that sucker over and truly release what’s been processed and healed.

And I’m also reminded that although these video makes it seem like it’s happening so quickly, it’s really not. It’s a time lapse, sped up version that doesn’t show the breaks in the action, the time to swap out tools, to refill the soap containers, and buckets, to turn that power washer on and off.

Those boots move out of the frame A LOT. That’s the resting. The integration. The recognition of how well I’m doing. The work is ongoing. Sometimes I need pause and consider the state of things and decide what I’m going to do next. Even the intrusion of ads reminds me that sometimes life distracts me from doing the things I need to do to heal.

Its hard work - the rug washing and the healing. But they are both satisfying.

I may not be a mysterious pair of Wellington boots wielding a sudsy watering can, but I am here to support your healing journey with energy work, whether you’re at that first roll out and muddy rinse, or you just need a little sweeping. Booking sessions online and in-person for the holidays, the new year and beyond.

Together on the muddy tile floor of healing,

~ Courtney

Election Season + The Holidays

Election Season Togetherness, and how Reiki changed my holidays.

Ah, the holidays approach, and so too, the mid-term elections.

Shit.

If that’s how you’re feeling right now, you’re not alone. I was right there with you a couple elections ago.

Picture it, rural Northern California, the fall of 2015. I moved home with my tiny trailer to my tiny home town. Housing is not plentiful here, so I was staying with my parents.

Let’s just say that my parents and I don’t exactly see eye to eye on politics or current events. Like, ever.

It was that year. The long, drawn out election season. And it was rough. Thanksgiving was *brutal* and included being angrily shouted down by extended family members about how wrong I was about everything from my diet to my politics.

Not exactly inspiring of an attitude of gratitude.

If this move was going to work something had to change.

Something was me.

I signed up for a Reiki supported group coaching program, and started receiving energy healing while doing the work of healing myself with a lot of support from other on the same path. It was intense and amazing.

It did NOT change my living situation, or the political leanings of any of my family members. But doing the work, and receiving Reiki did shift my perspectives, and gave me the peace of mind to set boundaries, and prioritize my own needs, which was huge.

By the following Thanksgiving, I was able to give myself space to spend the day with other family members in a much more relaxed environment, and appreciate that it’s okay if we don’t all agree, but I don’t have to argue or be shouted at because of that.

It’s still a process enjoying the holidays with family, especially in an election cycle (plus everything else going on in the world), but when I am taking care of my needs first, it’s much easier have #EaseAndFlow where there used to be conflict.

Reiki is a big part of filling my cup, I’d love to share that with you. If your holiday season could use a shift, book yourself a session and see what Reiki can do for you.
